Golden Eagle

Aquila chrysaetos

Golden Eagles are prominent in human culture, inspiring awe, reverence, and sometimes fear and prejudice. In North America, the Golden Eagle is found mainly in most of Canada and Alaska, and predominantly in western U.S. and Mexico. It also occurs throughout the Palearctic Regions of the world. Golden Eagles are among the largest birds of prey in the world and North America’s second-largest, after the massive California Condor. Despite their size, Golden Eagles are highly efficient fliers and predators capable of performing a variety of air maneuvers at high speeds.
